A Superior Middle School student is facing multiple charges after he allegedly threatened one student with a knife and another with a lighter during a class.
According to a Superior police report filed by the school's liaison, Officer Todd Carlson:
The students, ages 12 and 13, were in a family and consumer education cooking class when the suspect walked toward a group of boys at the back of the room. Two students told the liaison officer the suspect asked one of them for a piece of gum. One of the students said no, he didn't have any, and the suspect allegedly opened a folding-style knife with a locking blade in a fast motion and thrust it at two boys.
He then closed it and put if back in his pocket, according to a 13-year-old victim. The suspect then pulled out a lighter and struck it within three inches of face of 12-year-old boy who told the suspect he couldn't have any gum.
The 12-year-old told the officer the flame caused him to move his head backward to avoid the flame before the suspect returned the lighter to his pocket and walked away.
