Two Superior Middle School students and two Superior High School students are facing charges after an incident Friday on a school bus involving alcohol and a white powder substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Superior police Capt. Chad La Lor said officers received a tip about alcohol being passed around on a morning bus run. During the investigation, police learned that a middle school student also had been selling a substance that he said was cocaine.
La Lor said the 14-year-old boy has been referred to juvenile authorities on a charge of delivering cocaine. La Lor said the boy claims the substance was crushed up Claritin, an over-the-counter antihistimine used to treat allergies. But a field test of the substance produced a positive result for cocaine.
A 13-year-old boy also was referred on a charge of underage drinking and possession of cocaine, La Lor said. And two 14-year-old high school students were charged with underage drinking.
La Lor said the incident remains under investigation. The suspected cocaine will be sent to the state crime lab in Wausau for further testing.

Even if the drug is not determined to be cocaine, La Lor said, the student selling it is still likely to be charged.
"The fact [is] that he was representing the substance as cocaine and selling it to students as cocaine," La Lor said. "We do have a statute for delivery of a look-alike substance," which is a felony under Wisconsin law.
