At his annual State of the City address, Superior Mayor Dave Ross plans to break from the tradition of honoring city leaders to include the 200-plus men and women who answer phones, pick up trash, plow streets and otherwise meet the needs of the community.

KUWS 91.3 FM plans to carry the 6 p.m. address live for those who can't get to the Rothwell Student Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Ross also plans to recognize businesses that have been leaders in their fields and chose Superior as a place to grow as well as another citizen for service to the community.

This year's honoree helped end a burglary spree in East End last summer at age 11 with accurate descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle, leading to an arrest.

A reception follows the speech at the Rothwell Student Center.
