A Superior man found to have more than 17 pounds of marijuana in his home will spend 30 days in jail and two years on probation.
Danilo V. Polonia, 62, pleaded no contest last week in Douglas County Circuit Court to two amended misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and one felony count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
In addition to his sentence, he was ordered to undergo a chemical dependency evaluation, maintain absolute sobriety and submit to random urinalysis.
A deferred judgment of conviction agreement was reached for the felony charge. If Polonia abides by the terms of his probation for two years, the charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor charge with no further penalties.
A series of monitored drug buys in Superior in August 2013 led to the execution of a search warrant at Polonia’s home on the 1000 block of North 18th Street, a block from the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus. Superior police found more than 17 pounds of marijuana, digital scales and $1,035 in cash, according to the criminal complaint.
The man who sold the marijuana during the drug buys, Marko John Garramone, 27, was sentenced in April to nine months in jail and three years of probation.
