A Superior man who provided alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana to young girls, then made sexual advances toward them pleaded no contest to a number of charges, including third-degree sexual assault, in Douglas County Circuit Court this week.
Darrell Duyea Murphy, 50, pleaded no contest to amended felony counts of third-degree sexual assault and causing a child to view sexual conduct, two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child and one misdemeanor count of telephone harassment.
Two additional counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child and a felony count of exposing a child to harmful material were dismissed. A misdemeanor count of fourth-degree sexual assault was dismissed, but read in for sentencing scheduled for December.
The charges stem from incidents that occurred at Murphy's Billings Park apartment. In preliminary testimony last month, three teenage girls testified that Murphy provided them with cigarettes on a regular basis for nearly two years. Murphy also offered the girls marijuana and alcohol, and smoked marijuana with at least two of the teens.
One of the girls testified that he would put on pornographic movies while they were in his room smoking marijuana. She said he offered her cash or alcohol for sexual favors. She said one day when she was drunk, she took a nap at his apartment to sober up, and he sexually assaulted her.

The teens spoke of being the victim of unwanted sexual conduct, including hugging, inappropriate touching and other sexual contact.
Murphy remains in Douglas County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash.
