Kiwanis Club receives $1,000
James Farkas, 2009 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival chairman, presented a $1,000 check to Superior Kiwanis Club president Melissa Brown for the Kiwanis Club Children's Tent that was set up at the Aug. 22 Dragon Boat Festival on Barker's Island in Superior.

James Farkas, 2009 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival chairman, presented a $1,000 check to Superior Kiwanis Club president Melissa Brown for the Kiwanis Club Children's Tent that was set up at the Aug. 22 Dragon Boat Festival on Barker's Island in Superior.

The Kiwanis Club organizes Saturday morning and afternoon activities for children attending the festival. This year's activities included arts and crafts activities, making bracelets and necklaces; constructing hats, tiaras and pinwheels, and other child-focused crafts. All activities are supervised and are held in an enclosed tent area near the playground on Barker's Island.
