Superior firefighters extinguished a structure fire on Friday night and revived a dog they rescued from the burning building.
The Superior Fire Department reported that crews were called to the fire in the basement at 1311 N. 23rd St. at 9:19 p.m. Friday. Firefighters found an active fire in the basement and quickly extinguished the flames.
Crews found an unconscious dog in the basement, brought it out of the building and administered oxygen to the animal. The dog regained consciousness and was taken by Superior police to a Duluth veterinary clinic. There was no immediate word on how the dog was doing this morning.
The residents of the building were not at home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $20,000, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
