A new cell of high pressure is rolling in to bring several sunny days to our region. The high's clockwise circulation will initially bring us cooler air via northerly winds but I think temperatures will still be quite tolerable around here.
Today's sky should be mostly sunny in Minnesota and partly cloudy in Wisconsin due to the cloud squashing qualities of the high. Gopher State highs will go from 67 to 71. Badger State highs will hit between 68 and 73. The normal is 74. The winds will be northerly from
5-10 mph. Humidity levels will be comfortable.
The high will keep the sky bluish until Wednesday. As it migrates, it will eventually bring in winds from the south which will push us back into the mid-70s by Tuesday. The high will be replaced by new rainmaking lows by Thursday and then rain chances will stick around through Saturday.
Many of us are about an inch short for August rain totals, so precipitation in moderate amounts will be a good thing. Let's just hope a replay of the monster August rains of 1972 stay away!
