Sunday's weather for Duluth and the Northland: Sunday could get stormy

Today, a fairly weak low will work into our region. If it creates any cumulonimbus clouds, a couple of factors could come together to make some isolated but severe weather. The surface winds should be southerly. The winds aloft are usually westerly.

Today, a fairly weak low will work into our region. If it creates any cumulonimbus clouds, a couple of factors could come together to make some isolated but severe weather. The surface winds should be southerly. The winds aloft are usually westerly. A towering CU cloud caught in that wind shear could get twisted which could make the cloud go super-cell on us. The result could be lightning, high winds, large hail and tornadoes.

Luckily, the chance of all that happening is only 30 percent. The chance will affect most of our towns, but southern places like Moose Lake and Hayward may be off the hook. If storms don't break out, we'll get a partly cloudy sky with Minnesota high temps in the 70s by Lake Superior to the mid 80s inland. Wisconsin readings will run between 82 and 87. The wind will be southerly from 5-10 mph. The dew point should be 65 which indicates mugginess.

The shower and storm chance will spill over into Monday but be gone by Tuesday. Another rain chance comes Wednesday and Thursday. Highs this week will remain in the 80s until Wednesday and then dip to the 70s by Thursday.
