Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest for boaters. This holiday weekend, the Coast Guard is urging boaters to consider upgrading their marine radios to take part in the new Rescue 21 system. That will allow distress signals to automatically include a GPS coordinate. For our region, holiday boating should be all right if you watch out for the wind. Sunday's winds should come from the northwest and gust to 20 mph. Higher winds usually are created when we swap out pressure systems. A big high is replacing the rain-making low of Saturday. A few showers could linger today, but should be gone by Monday as that high sets up. It'll stick around for a while, so partly to mostly sunny skies will be with us through Friday. High temperatures will descend to the 60s for a few days.
