A strong odor emanating from a home in Duluth Township led to the disruption of a $100,000 marijuana operation Thursday.
Charges are pending against a father and son, ages 57 and 26, after they were arrested following a search-and-seizure effort by police and other agencies at 1564 Torgeson Road at 5:25 p.m., the Duluth Township Police said in a news release.
Police were investigating a strong odor of marijuana reported coming from the home, which was rented and occupied by the father and son.
When authorities converged on the house, “several adult individuals were found to be in the residence at the time of the raid as well as one individual who had just purchased marijuana and was leaving upon arrival of the search warrant team,” Duluth Township Police Chief Shawn Padden reported in the news release.
Officers located a marijuana operation inside the trailer home, including numerous packages of marijuana ready for sale and 77 plants growing in pots.
Plants ranged from 16 inches to nearly 5-feet tall and harvested amounts of the drug totaled 6 pounds.
Estimated value, said Padden, was $100,000.
Officers also seized several hundred dollars of U.S. currency, believed to be proceeds from drug transactions.
Also, officers collected several thousand dollars’ worth of equipment, including lights, climate control devices and video monitoring equipment.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office also assisted the Duluth Township Police.
