A line of strong thunderstorms that pummeled the Iron Range Tuesday afternoon hit the North Shore around 6 p.m. and are headed across Lake Superior toward the Bayfield Peninsula.
No warnings have been issued for land areas, but the storms have a history of producing wind gusts of up to 50-mph, half-inch diameter hail, frequent lightning and brief, heavy downpours.
The storms grazed areas north of Duluth, but missed the city proper. More thunderstorms are possible later tonight.
