Stora Enso announced today that its Port Hawkesbury mill in Nova Scotia, Canada, will resume operations after a 10-month shutdown.
Operations will begin immediately with a paper machine capable of producing 360,000 tons of super-calendared magazine paper a year. A second machine, capable of producing 190,000 tons of newsprint a year, will begin operations later.
A labor dispute stopped production at the mill on Dec. 24. Since then, a new labor contract which includes wage concessions was approved.
In addition, Stora Enso recently reached favorable agreements on utility rates, property and capital taxes.
