A 14-year-old St. Paul boy who drove and crashed an "abandoned" school bus Feb. 10 pleaded guilty Thursday in Ramsey County Juvenile Court to motor vehicle theft and criminal damage to property.

He agreed to pay restitution, according to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office.

The St. Paul teen, who has not been identified, took an unoccupied Centerline Charter bus parked outside a Holiday convenience store and gas station at Rice Street and Wheelock Parkway in St. Paul.

He told police he had been watching the bus for about 20 minutes when he decided it had been abandoned and needed to be returned to Centerline's headquarters about a half-mile away on Rice Street. Instead, the bus ended up wedged against a gas-pump island at a Shell station at Dale and County Road B in Roseville.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the bus and the gas station pumps were damaged.
