St. Louis County is expected to auction off nearly 100 tax-forfeited properties during its Oct. 11 sale.
The live auction begins at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Miners Memorial Building, 821 S. Ninth Ave., Virginia. Registration is required for all bidders, and can be done online or by filling out a form included in the catalog or available at the auction. People bidding or purchasing at the auction cannot have a delinquent property taxes on property they already own in St. Louis County. Those with delinquent property taxes must first pay what they owe and provide proof before bidding or purchasing at the auction, according to the county.
The properties include houses in Chisholm, Eveleth, Babbitt, Virginia and Hermantown, in addition to a waterfront lot on Shagawa Lake in Ely. The sale includes recreational land and buildable lots. Some properties had blighted buildings removed.
A catalog with photos, maps and details about each property, including the starting bid price, is available online at stlouiscountymn.gov/landsales.
