Authorities have identified a woman found dead in a burned-out car in a ditch about 40 miles northwest of Duluth.

The body was found Wednesday morning in a Ford Focus in Kelsey Township, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. Earlier in the day authorities had asked for help identifying the body.

The Sheriff's Office received a call about a vehicle on fire in the ditch at 7:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Arkola Road between Cotton and Hibbing. The fire was mostly out when authorities arrived.

The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
