St. Louis County official warns of deed 'deal' mailing

St. Louis County Recorder Mark Monacelli says he has a deal for you. The county will provide homeowners with a certified deed to their property for just $10.

St. Louis County Recorder Mark Monacelli says he has a deal for you. The county will provide homeowners with a certified deed to their property for just $10.

And that's a heck of a lot cheaper than the $59.50 that National Deed Service Inc. is offering for the same service.

Monacelli said some St. Louis County homeowners received a letter from the Northbrook, Ill., company that said it's highly recommended to have a copy of your deed, urging homeowners to buy its service.

But Monacelli said most homeowners already received the original, official copy of the deed when they bought the property. If you don't have it, contact the county recorder's office to get a certified copy. In St. Louis County, call 726-2677 or go to www.co-st-louis.mn.us .
