Spirit Mountain officials announced Saturday that the 2004-05 season was a record year for the year-round recreation area.
In the fiscal year ending April 30, 2005, Spirit Mountain finished with record revenues in campground, banquets, season pass sales, cross country, and overall revenues. This year marks the fifth consecutive year of record revenues for the facility. Outgoing Executive Director Rick Certano, attributes this success to the commitment and efforts of the staff and employees of Spirit Mountain. Certano said, "The success we have experienced over these years has truly been a team effort. We have rebuilt the chairlifts, expanded our snowmaking capabilities, greatly improved the grooming on the hills, created the very successful After School Ski Program that reaches 1,200 school children annually, developed the largest and most popular terrain park in the Midwest, and placed the facility in its best ever financial position. I am confident that under new leadership, Spirit Mountain will continue to enjoy record years."
During the summer months Spirit Mountain will remain busy with special events, banquet and convention business, as well as the Spirit Mountain Campground. Upcoming events at the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area include the Walk, Ride, and Runoff event May 21, the World Trials Championships in June, and the Green Man Festival in July.
