OLIVIA, Minn. — A convenience store employee is hospitalized after being shot Friday morning at a combination gas station, convenience store and auto repair shop in Fairfax.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect has been arrested.
The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the store at 7:59 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, reporting that someone inside the office had been shot.
Subsequent information was received indicating the suspect had been disarmed and the victim had been shot in the hand and face, the department said in a news release.
Upon arrival at the scene, responding officers immediately located and arrested the suspect, a 60-year-old male from Fairfax. The suspect reportedly was not an employee at the business, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, a 55-year-old male employee, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and face. He was treated at the scene for his injuries and later flown to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspect is being held in the Renville County Jail pending formal charges by the Renville County Attorney’s Office.
Fairfax is about 55 miles south of Willmar.
