Ashland voters have selected which candidates will advance to the general election.

Dave Sorenson and Bill Whalen will run against one another for the office of mayor, respectively garnering 421 and 363 votes, according to unofficial results Tuesday night. The two beat John Green and Richard Williams out of the race.

In Ashland's Ward 3, Jerry Teague received the most primary votes -- twice as many as his nearest competitor, James Clevette. As the lowest vote-getter, Christine Gay will drop out of the race.

In Ward 7, Pat Kinney and Emily Stephenson earned the most support, pulling in 59 and 48 votes, respectively, according to unofficial results. Robert Mahnke and Ed Sindelar were forced out of the race.
