The U.S. Coast Guard's Marine Safety Office in Duluth is monitoring the cleanup of a small fuel oil spill Thursday in Lake Superior's Agate Bay at Two Harbors.

Lt. Patrick Lammersen said about 5 gallons of fuel spilled into the lake as the ore carrier Presque Isle was being refueled at the CN ore dock.

Lammersen said contract cleanup crews were on the scene and had contained the small spill in a boom and were using pads to soak up the fuel.
