Several blocks of Superior Street in downtown Duluth will become a pedestrian mall for three days starting Wednesday as merchants host their annual Sidewalk Days Festival.
The blocks between Fourth Avenue West and Lake Avenue will be closed starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, according to a news release from the Greater Downtown Council. Activities will extend beyond the mall area, from First Street to Fitger's. The street will reopen to traffic at 9 p.m. Wednesday and at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
The event features shopping, food and
activities for children as more than 40 vendors will join the downtown merchants.

# The third annual Sidewalk Shuffle 5K Run & Walk during the noon hour Wednesday. Corporate teams and individuals will compete in the event, which is presented by the Greater Downtown Council and the YMCA.
# 10th annual Classic Car Show and Haley Revue, with eight blocks of cars, bikes and bands on Wednesday.
# CSL presents "Uprising" for Rock the Block from 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday on the 100 block of West Superior Street.
# First Street dances: Pot Bellied Stallions, courtesy of Aces; and
T. Farrell Band, courtesy of Roscoe's Pioneer Bar, at 6:30 p.m. to midnight Friday in the 100 and 300 blocks of West First Street.
# Superior Street Dance: Lamont Cranston, courtesy of Dubh Linn Pub; from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday in the 100 block of West Superior Street.
Parking will not be allowed on Superior Street during these times.
Duluth Transit Authority buses and the Port Town Trolley will detour to Michigan and First Street during Sidewalk Days. Watch for posted no-parking signs for temporary bus stops.

Since the Downtown Transit Center and Holiday Center Bus Stop will not be serviced by buses during this detour, DTA riders are advised to transfer at the Duluth Public Library or Radisson bus stops for easy connections to other buses.
