In a picture taken from the Coast Guard Cutter Alder, the Mesabi Miner is shown March 20 as the Alder works to break ice in harbor for the Miner’s departure. The vessel was expected Thursday in Taconite Harbor to unload coal and was expected to leave today, arriving in Duluth on Saturday to load coal at Midwest Energy.
