The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is advising any people who receive fake calls to ignore the scam messages. People do not need to report the call or dial 911.
The warning comes in response to a recent spike of reports regarding phone scams. The office received more than 100 calls on Monday about phony messages. They have come in various forms such as claiming the person owes taxes to the IRS or has outstanding warrants.
The Sheriff’s Office also would like to remind people to never give financial or credit card information over the phone if they are not sure who the caller is.
