Sheriff says Carlton County man died from accidental fall

The Twin Lakes Township man who was found dead in his home Friday morning died from head trauma after an accidental fall, Carlton County Sheriff Kelly Lake said Tuesday.

The body of Larry Ralph Martin, 66, was found in his home after Carlton County 911 dispatch received a call about 10:25 a.m. Friday of a man seen through a window lying on the floor of the home.

An autopsy was conducted and alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the fall, authorities said.

Anna Mae Mackai, 71, was in the home at the time of the incident. She is hospitalized in Duluth for a pre-existing medical condition, her family said.
