Strong, possibly severe thunderstorms are possible across the Northland this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service reports.
As temperatures climb into the 80s today across much of the region, a cold front is forecast to sweep through and trigger thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.
There's a slight risk for severe storms, the Weather Service reported. Any severe storms that develop may produce large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. Tornadoes also are possible in the Northland, though the risk is low, the Weather Service reported.
The greatest chance for severe storms will be between 5 and 9 p.m. as the cold front sweeps from west to east across the region.
