A driver in a 2005 Mercury Mariner was heading west on Highway 169 near Industrial Park Boulevard at 4:20 p.m. when the driver had to swerve to avoid a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. The Malibu had spun out on the icy highway and was facing the wrong direction. The 2005 Mercury Mariner then broadsided a 2004 Chevrolet Impala that was stopped at the intersection waiting to cross Highway 169.

It was at first believed that some of the victims suffered serious injuries, but according to an update today from the State Patrol four suffered no apparent injury, one suffered a minor injury, one was treated and released and one suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
