You might be one of 1,132 Minnesota or 900 Wisconsin taxpayers with an unclaimed tax refund. The Internal Revenue Service wants to reunite people with refunds that were undeliverable. The average annual refund is for about $950 in Minnesota and $720 in Wisconsin.
Some taxpayers have more than one year's refund awaiting them.
To see if you have a refund to claim, visit duluthnewstribune.com and click on "Unclaimed Minnesota Refunds" or "Unclaimed Wisconsin Refunds." The same information also is available at "Where's my refund?" on the IRS.gov Web site or by phone at 1-800-829-1954.
"Every year, many taxpayers miss their refunds because they move without notifying the IRS or Postal Service of a change of address," said IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson.
