'Seasons of North Shore' DVD recalled

Take-It-Home, Inc., a local business owned by three Duluth women, has recalled its entire holiday shipment of Lake Superior photo DVDs after a Twin Cities production house substituted R-rated movies on some of the company's order.

Take-It-Home, Inc., a local business owned by three Duluth women, has recalled its entire holiday shipment of Lake Superior photo DVDs after a Twin Cities production house substituted R-rated movies on some of the company's order.

The company produced and marketed a DVD featuring the photographic works of Paul Sundberg, manager at Gooseberry Falls State Park. The photos were mixed with music performed by "Terra Aura" and sold under the name "The Seasons of the North Shore." A story on the DVD can be found on Page B3 in this edition of the Budgeteer News.

The DVD was supplied to the Twin Cities company "Precision Powerhouse" for mass reproduction. That company, however, mixed portions of the company's order with an R-rated movie.

"We're stunned," said company co-owner Marcia Doty. "We have put our heart and soul into creating a positive, refreshing and artistically pleasant way to take home the seasons of the North Shore. We are appalled to discover that customers expecting a holiday gift may instead find a vulgar movie in the package."

Precision Powerhouse has taken full responsibility for the botched order. Take It Home owners have removed all potentially offensive materials from shelves and viewed all replacement DVDs for accuracy.

"Our personal integrity is on the line," Doty added. "We all lead our lives to honor and respect others, to be assets to our communities and to abhor the exploitation of anyone, particularly women or children."

Take It Home, Inc., stands behind its products and will immediately replace any tainted DVDs. The company owners can be reached at (800) 806-6011 or (218) 348-2683.

DVD combines North Shore sights, sounds

A new release DVD, "Seasons of the North Shore," has captured the magic of the North Shore with breathtaking photos by Paul Sundberg, enriched with music and nature sounds from Marty Weintraub of Terra Aura.

Paul Sundberg, photographer, is the manager of Gooseberry Falls State Park and a 25-year resident of the North Shore. Through his talented eye, he captures and shares the magic draw of a winter moon dancing above Split Rock Lighthouse beaming on an icy Lake Superior, the gushing waterfalls announcing the coming of spring, a moose playfully dunking his head in the water in the summer sun, and sparkling fall leaves in rich and colorful contrast to the crisp blue sky.

"Living on the North Shore has given me the opportunity to see Lake Superior in all her moods," Sundberg said. "Behind each photo is a story. A story of time spent with the wildlife that share this area. Photography is not so much talent as it is searching for the right light and coming across that one time image."

Sundberg's photos are matched with the music and the sounds of nature provided by Marty Weintraub of Terra Aura fame. Combining Sundberg's eye and Weintraub's musical talent makes this an extraordinary piece for any lover of the North Shore.
