The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation of a missing 29-year-old man, who apparently has taken off from a group home for the second time in less than three months without anyone knowing where he went.
Kyle John Grave was last seen at his parents' home in Kinney at 2:40 p.m. Friday. He was reported missing on Saturday. Some clothes and fishing equipment were found at the Kinney mine pit, which contains water 5 feet to 90 feet deep.
Sheriff's deputies and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad did an extensive search of the pit using a remotely operated vehicle video camera and a cadaver dog, among other searching devices, and got "zero hits, nothing," St. Louis County Undersheriff Dave Phillips said Monday.
Investigators have learned that Grave walked away from the group home for 41 hours on Memorial Day weekend. And bank transactions indicate that he removed money Friday from his account. Investigators think that Grave may be getting rides to various locations from an acquaintance.
The search has been suspended. Phillips believes the rescue squad has done everything it can do. But he said deputies are swinging through the area doing shore checks three times a day.

"We did a due-diligence search of the pit," Phillips said. "There's never 100 percent certainty that he's not in the pit, but right now we have pretty good reason to believe that with the search that was conducted, we would have located him in the suspected area if he was there. We certainly are not ignoring any leads. We ask that if the public has any contact with him -- we do have concern for his welfare -- please call 911. We would greatly appreciate it."
