Sammy's Pizza in West Duluth temporarily closes after employee tests positive for COVID-19

Sammy's Pizza & Restaurant-West Duluth, located at 403 N. Central Ave., joins the list of local businesses that have temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

"During this closure, we will take time to allow our team members to get tested, as needed, as well as conduct a thorough cleaning of the restaurant," a post on the restaurant's Facebook page said. "The safety and well-being of our customers, our team and our family has always been our top priority, and thus, we are taking every precaution to ensure it."

The employee who tested positive last worked on Saturday, Aug. 1.

Other recent COVID-19-related temporary closures include Duluth Grill, Sir Benedict's, Grandma's Saloon and Grill Canal Park and Little Angie's Cantina, all in Duluth.

This story was updated at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 5 to remove Hoops Brewing from the list of businesses that are temporarily closed as it has since reopened. It was originally posted at 8:35 a.m. Aug. 5.
