The St. Scholastica men's hockey team defeated Trinity (Conn.) 3-1 in the semifinals of the Cardinal Classic in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
The Saints (5-7-2) play the Tufts-Plattsburgh winner at3 or 6 p.m. today at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
St. Scholastica received goals from Matt Stengl, Joey Martini and Trevor Geiger and 23 saves from goaltender Steve Bounds. Chris Diozzi scored and David Murison had 24 saves for Trinity.

Chad Rau's fourth short-handed goal of the season broke a third-period scoreless tie, and the visiting No. 4 Tigers beat the 13th-ranked Badgers in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game in Madison.
The Badgers (8-8-3, 4-6-1 WCHA) lost their fifth in a row to the Tigers (13-6, 12-3).
Wisconsin defenseman Kyle Klubertanz turned the puck over in the attacking zone, giving Rau a rush up the right side of the ice. The Tigers junior beat Wisconsin goaltender Shane Connelly to the glove side.

Freshman and formerCloquet-Esko-Carlton player Tyler Johnson added his first collegiate goal for Colorado College.
Rookie Richard Bachman made 22 saves for his second collegiate shutout for the Tigers, who pulled into first place in the WCHA, two points ahead of idle Denver.

Freshman goalie Dan Dunn had 33 saves as the host Huskies rallied to beat the Fighting Sioux in a WCHA game in St. Cloud, Minn.
Trailing 2-0 with less than 17 minutes to go, the Huskies (10-9-2, 5-7-1) came back with goals 1:25 apart by Ryan Lasch and Aaron Marvin.
Nick Oslund added the winning goal with seven minutes left in regulation.
Andrew Kozek and Jake Marto scored for North Dakota (9-9-1, 6-7-0).
Jean-Philippe Lamoureux finished with 15 saves for North Dakota.

The Sioux were without one of their top scorers in T.J. Oshie -- suspended for one game for a disorderly conduct arrest in Grand Forks, N.D. He is expected to return today.

Brent Solei had 28 saves in his collegiate debut as the host Gophers defeated the Warriors in a nonconference game in Minneapolis.
Solei, a senior who had never been in an official game, allowed just one goal and looked like he may be an answer for a Gopher team that has been plagued by inconsistency in goal all season.
Blake Wheeler, Ben Gordon, Evan Kaufmann, R.J. Anderson and Patrick White scored for Minnesota (10-9-2).
Kyle Funkenhauser had36 saves for Wayne State(3-14-2). Mike Devoney also made his collegiate debut, finishing the game in goal by making 10 saves for Wayne State, which announced in October that this will be the final season for its hockeyprogram.
