Rock injuring Superior driver may have been tossed from overpass, police say

The Minnesota State Patrol suspects foul play in the case of a Superior man who was injured Sunday when a large rock flew through his windshield as he drove along Interstate 35 in Duluth.

The Minnesota State Patrol suspects foul play in the case of a Superior man who was injured Sunday when a large rock flew through his windshield as he drove along Interstate 35 in Duluth.
It appears that someone may have tossed the rock from either the overpass at 37th Avenue West or 40th Avenue West, State Patrol spokesman Neil Dickenson said.
Matthew J. Fijalkiewicz, 22, was driving south on I-35 near the overpasses around 11:20 p.m. The rock sailed through the windshield of his 2013 Ford Taurus and struck him in the chest. Fijalkiewicz was taken to St. Luke’s hospital in Duluth with non-life-threatening injuries.
