The suspect in an attempted robbery of a Duluth pharmacy was hospitalized after his arrest, Duluth police reported this morning.

After being arrested, the suspect, 29, told officers he had swallowed a large quantity of drugs prior to the attempted robbery. The suspect was transported to a hospital where he will remain until he can be released, when he will be lodged at the St. Louis County Jail.

According to police, the man entered Pasek Pharmacy, 116 W. First Street, at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. He told employees that he had a loaded pistol and passed an employee a note demanding morphine.

The clerk stalled the suspect while another employee called 911. Officers arrived on the scene and confronted the suspect. The suspect refused to follow commands and was subdued with three Taser darts.

No one was injured during the incident.
