Road closings for Sunday's John Beargrease race

The Duluth Police Department has released the following information about street closures, detours and parking restrictions for Sunday's start of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon.

The Duluth Police Department has released the following information about street closures, detours and parking restrictions for Sunday's start of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon.

Restrictions will be in effect between 9 a.m. and about

6 p.m.:

n Superior Street between 36th and 40th avenues east will be closed to through traffic, including DTA buses. Traffic will be detoured to London Road. Motorists are advised to detour at 26th Avenue East, because 36th Avenue East traffic may be heavy.

n The Ordean Middle School parking lot will be restricted to musher vehicles, race officials, support staff and volunteers.

n Parking will not be allowed along the even side of 40th Avenue East adjacent to Ordean Middle School. Neighborhood residential streets will be posted to allow parking on one side of the street only.

n No parking will be allowed along either side of Skyline Parkway between Glenwood Street and Hawk Ridge.

Motorists can expect delays on Jean Duluth Road at the Amity crossing and along Glenwood Street from Skyline Parkway to Jean Duluth Road when traffic is stopped to allow dog sleds to cross the road.
