A Red Flag Warning for possible rip currents is in effect for Park Point beach until 10 a.m. today.

The Duluth Fire Department issued the warning shortly before noon Monday because current wind and wave conditions could create dangerous rip currents for anyone entering the surf.

"Everyone should stay out of the water regardless of swimming experience," warned the fire department.

The conditions are of particular concern since the lifeguard season on Park Point ended with the Labor Day weekend. Surf flag locations are the 12th Street Beach, Lafayette Square and the Park Point beach. A new notice will be issued if conditions improve before 10 a.m. today.
