After over three months of construction, Rice Lake Road in Duluth is expected to reopen by 5 p.m. Thursday. The $4 million improvement project involved reconstruction of more than half a mile of road, widening the intersection at Arlington Avenue and Arrowhead Road and adding improvements to Technology Drive, according to a news release from St. Louis County.

The joint St. Louis County and city of Duluth project was designed to improve traffic flow and safety in the area. Work started earlier this spring when schools, specifically the nearby North Star Academy, closed early due to the pandemic. Dry summer conditions also sped up the work progress.

Finishing work is still being completed in the area, so motorists are reminded to use caution while traveling near a work zone.
