Duluth Republican delegates have endorsed former Duluth School Board member Art Johnston for the Minnesota House District 7B seat.

The district, which includes West Duluth, has been held by incumbent Rep. Liz Olson, a Democrat, since 2016.

In a news release, Johnston said he was "honored" by receiving the Republican endorsement.

"Duluth has been represented for too many years by the DFL who does not tolerate differences in thought, kowtows to the Cities' political correctness, and has turned its back on business, labor, the economy, and its citizens," Johnston said. "It has brought a dearth of opportunity to our great city, and seen young people move away because of no jobs, high taxes, and an economic unfriendly government."

Johnston served on the School Board from 2009-18, when he lost his reelection bid to current Board Chair Jill Lofald.
