Duluth police are investigating reported gunfire that occurred Saturday evening in the 600 block of East 6th Street.
Witnesses said they saw several people running from the area and pointed police toward a white van in the No. 7 alley just after 6:30 Saturday evening, according to a Duluth police news release.
Police stopped a van a few blocks away as it was attempting to leave the area. They also interviewed people in other locations believed to be involved but said most were uncooperative.
Initial information suggests several people were fighting in the area, police said, and at least one of them was reported to have fired a handgun. Police believe there may have been more than one firearm involved, but were unable to locate any other weapons.
Police did locate a single cartridge casing in the van and discovered apparent bullet holes through the windshield and through one door of the van.
