It never ceases to amaze me how the people of this city think; it makes no sense! I listened on television the other night that they are building a new airport building to make it convenient to travel from our airport. Now the last time I checked there are only three airlines that serve this airport. The average cost of a one-way ticket to Minneapolis is $230; that comes to about $1.40 per mile. It may cost you $40 in gas to drive both ways. If you wanted a round-trip ticket, it's around $341. Would it not make more sense to lower the prices of tickets and keep what we have in place? If they were to lower the prices of tickets, to say about $75 round trip, they would have plenty of business people and families traveling by plane. Every plane would be full. Of course, then they could not waste our money.
I then hear that homes in Duluth are not selling and the housing industry is going down. There are more homes in Duluth for sale than in all the years they can remember. So with all the homes that are not selling, we lose money on taxes and there are more foreclosures. So what do they suggest? To hike property taxes on homes again. Makes sense to me. Higher taxes mean more people will move from Duluth. Maybe we should put more signs up in Chicago to come to Minnesota, the best welfare state in the Union.
We build roads, airports, Section 8 housing and a new police building, which has been needed for years. All of this out of our taxes? I know: Let's hike property taxes. Makes sense to me. Do I sound like your elected officials?
Vote all of them out!
