Judy Seliga-Punyko deserved the News Tribune's endorsement (Our View/Endorsement: "For School Board District 2: Seliga-Punyko's attitude," Oct. 19).

Seliga-Punyko is my representative and has been a trusted, responsive and forward-looking board member. She has done right by supporting the Red Plan, resulting in updated, modern, safe and

future-ready schools throughout Duluth. Seliga-Punyko recognized the buildings were not just buildings but were places where student learning could improve. With new science labs, music and theater labs, performance venues, modern physical education facilities for both curriculum and extracurricular needs, and open and welcoming spaces for students, teachers and the public, we are a better community.

Students have returned to Independent School District 709. They want to attend the beautiful new schools.

The newspaper's assessment of Seliga-Punyko's opponent's "verbal attacks and incivility" at virtually every School Board meeting is what I have seen while attending the meetings. We don't need board members who attack their colleagues and try to sow discontent and divisiveness. Seliga-Punyko always has remained polite and appropriate, even when attacked by her opponent.

Seliga-Punyko deserves your vote. She will make sure civility reigns at board meetings, and she will get things done for our children.
