I am writing to support the re-election of Judy Seliga-Punyko to the Duluth School Board in the 2nd District. She has served our school district and city with grace, insight and sensitivity. Her primary concern is the good education of our children.
I attended several School Board meetings this last year. The Duluth district has had a time of change and hard decisions. The board had to make choices that were not always the ones each of us might have made. They made those tough choices with results that I think will make a difference for the better of all Duluth students, and they made them in a time of shrinking resources.
I listened repeatedly at those meetings to the man who would like to replace Seliga-Punyko on the board. He spoke at every session with no attempt at civility. He leveled personal attacks at board members and at the superintendent. His manner was consistently disrespectful to anyone who disagreed with him.
Judy Seliga-Punyko always shows respect for those who disagree with her. Her focus is the education of Duluth's children. She is a very effective member of the School Board. Join me in supporting her on Nov. 8.
