Reader's view: Rubin relies on misrepresention

I watched a video of a debate between St. Louis County Attorney Melanie Ford and her challenger, Mark Rubin. Oy. Ford was all Virgo, straight up. It's hard for her to crack a smile, much less flirt with the camera. Not so Rubin. He charmed.

I watched a video of a debate between St. Louis County Attorney Melanie Ford and her challenger, Mark Rubin. Oy. Ford was all Virgo, straight up. It's hard for her to crack a smile, much less flirt with the camera. Not so Rubin. He charmed.

But what was predictable was that Ford didn't say anything of which she

wasn't 100 percent certain. Rubin seemed to say what he thought would fly. He waved papers he said represented Ford's asking her employees to donate to her campaign. I've found out the request was not for money but for campaign volunteers -- and went out to Facebook friends. The person who reported it to Rubin was "unfriended" and never bothered again.

There have been other things Rubin claimed as true that were, in my opinion -- and gosh, how can I say this -- misrepresented.

And here's something that has my blood hot: Throughout that debate I watched, Rubin marginalized Ford by accentuating her femaleness. Even though she is married, he constantly referred to her as "Miss Ford." He belittled her endorsements by NOW and her funding from Emily's List. This was blatant sexism.

Could Rubin win this election on his own merits? Guess not.
