Are you aware that all local government entities (county, city and school district) are planning to raise your property taxes via levy increases? This is in addition to the referenda the city and school district are hoping to pass that definitely would increase property taxes.
Government must learn to live within its means. I believe Duluth city taxes should be used for police, fire, streets, parks and libraries. These are not "extras"; they are necessities. If the city cannot fund these basics, then cuts must be made in other areas or revenue from other sources must be used (part of the city sales tax, or the food and beverage tax, perhaps).
Therefore, before you vote this November, please ask your candidate to pledge not to raise property taxes. Also, please vote against the city referendum. Government must learn to live within its means.
