A candidate debate on Oct. 11 confirmed why we are supporting Melanie Ford for St. Louis County attorney. The candidates' responses and comments revealed how their past experiences have shaped their values and guided them in their professional lives.
In the past four years as county attorney, Ford has brought fresh perspectives and a deep commitment to listen to all citizens of St. Louis County and to determine how her department can offer the best services for all. Her challenger, Mark Rubin, on the other hand, while working as an able county prosecutor for decades, sees the justice system on a case-by-case basis, responding to individual needs with specific programs.
Ford is able to step back, view larger issues and work collaboratively to bring about the systemic changes necessary to assure a "just" system. Ford is more than a "nice guy." She is an insightful, creative and tireless visionary, committed to providing the most inclusive, effective and efficient legal services that benefit all citizens throughout St. Louis County. Ford is a change agent, challenging courageously what always has been and providing a pathway to fairness for all. Our votes will be for continued change and justice for all.
