WHO: Arctic Explorer Will Steger, Duluth City Councilor Jeff Anderson, Cesia Kearns, Sierra Club, and Duluth area residents concerned about clean energy and offshore drilling.
VISUALS: Sierra Club members and Duluth residents with colorful signs, view of Lake Superior, Polar Bear costumes.
BACKGROUND: Congress will be voting as early as next week on an energy plan which includes opening coastlines to offshore drilling, despite the evidence that drilling for more oil would take over a decade and provide no real price relief at the pump. The debate around drilling offshore is a distraction from passing a strong, bold and balanced clean energy policy that will provide long term solutions to America's energy needs through clean, renewable fuels and wind and solar sources.
