Widespread rainfall has allowed the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to ease restrictions on open burning permits on several counties.

Open burning restrictions will be lifted on Lake of the Woods and northern Beltrami counties at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

All of St. Louis, Lake and Cook counties will again be issuing permits beginning Friday.

Open burning permit restrictions were lifted in Koochiching and Polk counties on Saturday.

Five counties in northwestern Minnesota will remain under restriction for open burning permits until they receive adequate rain and the likelihood of fire has been reduced.
