The Proctor City Council's search for the city's next administrator appears to be over.
Former Proctor Mayor Jim Rohweder orally accepted the job Monday night following the City Council's unanimous decision to offer it to him, said Mayor Steve Anderson.
The position has been open since early February, with city staff filling in during the vacancy. The City Council previously offered the position to the community development director for the city of Becker, Minn., though she did not accept.
Rohweder and Crookston, Minn., deputy clerk-treasurer Arlene Tucker also emerged as top candidates during the interview process.
Anderson said Rohweder is "very familiar with the community and local legislators, he is very well-liked and respected in the community. We're delighted to have him."

The city will proceed with contract negotiations, and Rohweder is expected to start Aug. 1.
Rohweder was the mayor of Proctor for 10 years, ending in 2003. He retired as the superintendent of operations from the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway in Proctor in 2004, after 37 years with the company.
"I'd like to get back involved in what's going on in the community," Rohweder said.
Rohweder said he wants the community to feel that the city government is open to working with them.
"I'm hoping to get out in the community more than they have in the past, to interact with people more and get a good feel for what people need," Rohweder said. "The City Hall should be a place where people feel comfortable that they can get their problems solved."
