Pairs of poets and printmakers have focused their talents on the same ideas to create a new exhibit at Northern Prints Gallery.
"Response,' which opens tonight, features 34 prints matched with 34 poems.
The collaboration started with prints from 18 regional artists. Those prints were given to wordsmiths from the Lake Superior Writers, who wrote a poem to match.
Every printmaker found that their matching "poems that had the idea behind their print exactly,' said gallery owner Cecilia Lieder, who also is a printmaker.
"It was uncannily similar. It was almost a little eerie,' said poet Deborah Cooper, who wrote three poems for the collaboration.

For a print by Lieder called "Unter dem Linden,' Cooper wrote about her parents' gravesite, which is situated under a linden tree. Later, she found out the print's German title refers to two soulmates who were blessed with true love.
Print/poem pairs will be sold for $100 to $350. A book on the exhibit costs $15.
