DICKINSON, N.D. - The principal of a western North Dakota high school has been taken into custody in connection with a fire at the school Monday morning, according to a release sent out Tuesday by the Dickinson Police Department.

The release states that Dickinson Trinity High School Principal Thomas J. Sander, 30, was called in for questioning Tuesday morning and later booked into Southwest Multi-County Correction Center in Dickinson following the establishment of probable cause for charges of arson and endangerment by fire.

A bond hearing for Sander will be scheduled in the near future, the release said. Both charges are Class B felonies under the North Dakota Century Code.

The fire caused extensive damage to the building and the cancellation of classes for at least the rest of the week, Dickinson Catholic Schools leaders said.
